A Refugee Family Reunion Visa allows refugees to be reunited with you in the UK. This is provided their family members face similar persecution in their home country. In this application, the refugee is required to act as a sponsor for their family members.

To be eligible for a Family Reunion Visa, you must:
- Be residing in the home country of your refugee sponsor
- Be related to your refugee sponsor
- Be a member of your refugee relative’s household (when in your home country), such as dependent children
You must also be able to provide evidence which demonstrates your relationship to your sponsor. This can most commonly be provided with identity documents, such as birth certificates or passports.
However, if the refugee and family members are unable to gain access to these documents then other forms of proof may be applicable. This includes witness statements, DNA testing, and wedding photographs.
It is important to remember that the most appropriate documents for you will vary according to your relationship with your sponsor. If you require more specific information, it is highly advisable that you seek the advice of an immigration lawyer.
In order for a refugee to bring their spouse to the UK with them, they must supply evidence of their marriage being official and legal.
This may include evidence of a marriage certificate or, if the relationship in question is between two unmarried or engaged individuals, with proof that the relationship has lasted at least two years.
It is not typical for parents to qualify for the Refugee Family Reunion. A child refugee may apply to have their parents come over to the UK with them under the family exceptional circumstances guidance. They can also use compassionate factors if their parents did not qualify for refugee status themselves.
If your parent is unable to care for themselves in their home country they may go through the Adult Dependent Visa route to come to the UK.
