Information

Our OISC Level 2 accreditation training course is designed as a two-day, intermediate course which develops on the training of the Level 1 course. In this course, we aim to cover the syllabus at level two, as according to OISC standards.

The aim of this course is to provide participants with further knowledge on Immigration, EU and an introduction to Asylum law in preparation for the level two assessments with a focus on the OISC’s core requirements.

The course also includes consideration of exam questions and useful exam techniques & tips for the OISC Assessment and the Law Society Accreditation exams, as appropriate.

We provide some of the most extensive immigration law training courses in the UK. This course is ideal for anyone interested in taking the next step in their immigration law training.

Who will administer the training?

Our courses are delivered by an experienced trainer, Dr Edward Mynott.

After an academic career, Edward has provided immigration advice and services for the past 15 years in both the voluntary sector and in private practice and is currently a freelance OISC-regulated advocate in First-tier and Upper Tribunal appeals.

He is a member of the Law Society’s Immigration Law Advanced Accreditation Scheme and the Immigration Law Practitioners Association. He is also a contributor to the Lexis PSL online platform and a member of its Consulting Editorial Board.

What course materials do I receive?

Delegates are provided with an up-to-date handbook specifically written for the course which refers to relevant sources of law. It includes chapters on: The handbook can be used as a resource for daily practice and for the open-book OISC assessment tests.

Will this count towards my Continuing Professional Development (CPD)?

Attendance on our courses provides evidence of practitioners having considered and met their CPD requirements.

Certificates of Attendance are issued which can be included in the practitioner’s CPD record.

Our courses are always up-to-date with the latest legal changes and are suitable for those who are already regulated by OISC or accredited by the Law Society, but are looking to refresh their knowledge and keep up to date with the latest developments in the law.

Which course is most suitable for me?

Our Level 1 course is our introductory course. It is suitable for those who are complete beginners and for those who may have some practical experience but have not yet passed their Level 1 assessment.

Our Level 2 course is designed for those who are already in practice at Level 1 and are preparing to take their Level 2 assessment or want to understand more complex casework.

Our Level 3 course is for those who are already regulated at level 2 but are preparing to take their Level 3 assessment or want to understand how to tribunal appeals work.

The Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme (IAAS)

The Law Society’s Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme is mandatory for all practitioners working under a Legal Aid contract in the immigration and asylum category. Our Level 1 course is suitable for those intending to join the Scheme as an assistant caseworker.

Our Level 2 and 3 courses may be suitable for those seeking accreditation at the level of ‘caseworker’ or intending to move from accreditation as a caseworker to accreditation as a ‘senior caseworker’.
