What are the Spouse Visa requirements?
The main requirement for a Spouse Visa is to be married to a British Citizen or someone with settled status in the UK. As well as this, there are several other requirements that you will need to meet, these include:
- Proving that your relationship is genuine and subsisting
- Demonstrating your knowledge of the English language
- Meeting the relevant financial requirement
- Proving that you have adequate accommodation in the UK
It may seem difficult to meet these requirements, but our lawyers in St Giles can help. To prove that you meet them you will need a substantial portfolio of supporting documents, our lawyers can help you to gather everything you will need for this.
The Fiance visa is valid for a period of 6 months, under the assumption that you will marry your UK partner within this time.
If you would like to remain in the UK after you have married your partner then you can apply for a Spouse visa which is valid for 30 months and can then be extended.
The Fiance visa cannot usually be extended, in exceptional circumstances where you can prove a good reason to have no been married by the time the validity runs out then it may be possible to get an extension.
