1: The situation

Fred is a UK National who had been living in the USA for 15 years – this is also where he met and married his wife, Robin.

They were both looking for a change in life and decided to relocate to the UK. Of course, this was not an issue for Fred, but they were not sure what to do to secure Robin entry.

They were planning a trip to the UK in the next few months to look for a new home and emailed IAS to arrange an Entry Clearance Advice Session.

2: How IAS helped

A lawyer met them both shortly after they had arrived in the UK in their local office in Wakefield.

At first, they were worried that they would not make the requirements as they had not yet secured a property in the UK – after further discussion on the matter it appeared that they were invited to live his Fred’s brother until this had been settled.

IAS then prepared two plans of action for them – one involving a scenario where they had managed to purchase a house and the other where they would temporarily stay with Fred’s brother.

We provided full written instructions for both cases and made ourselves available if they had any further questions.

3: The outcome

Both Fred and Robin were relieved to find that they had more options than they once thought, and did not feel as pressured to rush into securing a property for Robin’s application.

They liaised with us several times over the following months via email and opted to first stay with Fred’s brother.

IAS took full instructions from them, took ownership of their case and made a successful application on their behalf.
