1: The situation

John, a UK National met Vichita, a Thai National, online.

After many months of correspondence, they decided to meet up.

It was then that they had become engaged. John invited her to join him in the UK.

Vichita lived and worked in the UAE, and was not sure how or where to make her application.

She emailed IAS requesting a call back to clarify her situation.

2: How IAS helped

Our Enquiry Team first spoke with Vichita – they informed her that she could make her application in a country in which she was a resident. Our Team advised her to take a scan of her UAE residency card and email it to one of our lawyers.

Once this was done, Vichita was connected to a lawyer for further advice.

Our lawyer determined that, if she wanted to, Vichita was free to make her application in the UAE.

She confirmed that this was what she wanted to do.

As such, we drafted a plan of action, a list of specific requirements and a list of documents that she would need.

By the end of the week, she had secured this information and IAS then submitted her application online and arranged a suitable date and time for her appointment at an Application Centre near her location in the UAE.

3: The outcome

With our assistance, Vichita applied using the Priority Service and received her decision within 2 weeks received her decision – her application had been successful and she was granted entry to the UK to be with and marry John.

We advised that once they had married she would have to switch to a Spouse Visa – we assured them that we would be available if they needed our services again.
