What Is The New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program?
The New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP) is designed to select and nominate qualified and eligible overseas workers who wish to live and work in New Brunswick.
If you are accepted through the nominee program, as a Nigerian you will have the opportunity to apply for permanent residence in Canada.
The program is divided into various streams with requirements for eligibility dependent upon the stream you apply through.
What Is The New Brunswick PNP Eligibility for Each Category:
There are a number of categories in the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program and you should choose the category that applies to you and your PNP eligibility.
- New Brunswick Skilled Worker Stream – is for foreign graduates and nationals who have received an offer of employment from a New Brunswick employer that is unable to fill a job vacancy with a Canadian national.
- New Brunswick Express Entry Stream – designed for overseas applicants who want to live and work in New Brunswick, but want to pay a higher fee to have their application fast-tracked.
- New Brunswick Business Immigration Stream – aimed at experienced foreign entrepreneurs who want to set up a business and live and work in New Brunswick.
- New Brunswick Post-Graduate Entrepreneurial Stream – for international individuals with a university degree who want to set up a business and live and work in the region.
- New Brunswick.New Brunswick Strategic Initiative Stream – is for French-speaking foreign individuals who have the requisite skills and education to live permanently in the area.
- New Brunswick Immigration Pilot Program – a five-year pilot program that allows employers to recruit overseas talent to fill in gaps caused by critical labour shortages.


New Brunswick Skilled Workers Stream
Overview
The New Brunswick Skilled Workers Stream also covers the stream that was previously New Brunswick Skilled Workers with Employer Support, and it also covers skilled employers in the transportation sector (NOC 73300).
If you have received a full-time permanent job offer from an employer in New Brunswick, then you can apply under the New Brunswick Skilled Worker Stream as long as you meet the requirements.
Eligibility Under The New Brunswick Skilled Workers Stream
- Provide proof that you intend to live in New Brunswick
- Have a letter of support from your future employer in New Brunswick
- Hold the minimum equivalent of a Canadian Secondary (High School) diploma
- Be between the ages of 19 and 55
- Have a language level in English or French of Benchmark Level 4 (CLB 4)
If you are applying for work in the New Brunswick Skilled Worker Stream with a transportation company, then you must also have a job offer from a company that is owned or leased by an employer located in New Brunswick with a street and mailing address. The premises must be open for business and staffed by one or more persons on a permanent basis.


New Brunswick Express Entry Labour Market Stream
Overview
The New Brunswick Express Entry Labour Market Stream category is designed for workers who are already living in New Brunswick and want permanent residence. The applicant must submit an online profile for the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program
The federal government then determines if a candidate is eligible for express entry. It is a points-based system based on your age, education, work experience and language skills.
Eligibility Under The New Brunswick Express Entry Stream
- Have an up-to-date Express Entry profile
- Have a job seeker validation code or proof that you have enrolled in a PGWP program at a secondary institution that is federally designated
- Be living in New Brunswick
- Hold Canadian Language Benchmark Level 7 (CLB 7) in English or French
New Brunswick PNP Points Calculator
The New Brunswick PNP Points Calculator has been designed so that the government can assess the New Brunswick PNP eligibility of individuals who want to apply for New Brunswick Immigration under the New Brunswick Express Entry Stream. In order to be able to submit papers in the application program a person must have at least 67 points on the New Brunswick PNP Points Calculator.
Points are gained by looking at the information from the following factors:
- Language Skills – Maximum 20 points
- Education – Maximum 23 points
- Work Experience – Maximum 15 points
- Age – Maximum 10 points
- Adaptability – Maximum 15 points
New Brunswick Business Immigration Stream
Overview
The New Brunswick Business Immigration Stream has been designed for entrepreneurs from overseas countries to come and live in New Brunswick while setting up a permanent business.
Eligibility Under The New Brunswick Business Immigration Stream
- The business must be of economic benefit to New Brunswick, and you must be a sole proprietor or in partnership with a permanent resident or Canadian citizen. You must invest at least CAD $150,000 before tax and control at least 33.3% equity in the business.
- Other selection factors include your age (between 21 and 59) and your language level. You must hold valid test results which demonstrate your language level for English or French at level 5. You must also hold a Canadian high school diploma or equivalent.


New Brunswick Post-Graduate Entrepreneurial Stream
Overview
This stream is designed for you if you want to settle permanently in New Brunswick and have completed at least two years of full-time study and graduated from a recognised New Brunswick university or Community College.
Eligibility Under The Post-Graduate Entrepreneurial Stream
- Have acquired or started a business that is 100% owed by you in New Brunswick, which has been operating for at least one year under a valid Post Graduate Work Permit.
- A post-secondary level of education in Canada or the equivalent from an overseas education facility
- Language level in French or English at CLB 7


New Brunswick Strategic Initiative Stream
If you are a French speaker, then you may be able to apply for the New Brunswick Strategic Initiative Scheme in the future. However, this scheme is currrently on hold to new applicants with no date available for when the scheme may restart.

New Brunswick Immigration Pilot Program (The Critical Worker Pilot Stream)
The New Brunswick Immigration Pilot Program is for employers only. Applications from individual candidates will not be considered.
At present, the New Brunswick Immigration Pilot Scheme is not open to participation from new companies, but if your employer is interested in the scheme for the future it can visit the Brunswick, Canada website on the page that has information for employers in New Brunswick.
The New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program Application Process
You will need to have provide documents for each stream of the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program as well as filling out an application form.

Fees For the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program
When you apply under the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Programme you will need to pay the following fees IN cad (Canadian Dollars):
- NBPNP FEE – 250 CAD Except for the Express Stream which is 2000 CAD
- Processing Fee together with the fee for Permanent Residence – 1,365 CAD
- Processing Fee without fee for permanent residence – 850 CAD
- Dependent Child – 230 CAD per child
You will also have to pay the processing fees for your partner, either with or without a permanent residence application
- Processing Fee with the fee for permanent residence – 1,365 CAD
- Processing fee without the fee for permanent residence – 850 CAD
The Canadian authorities recommend that you pay the fee for permanent residency with your visa application to prevent delays.
Other fees should also be taken into consideration. You may be asked to pay for:
- Biometrics – 85 CAD per person or 170 CAD for a family of two or more
- Employers Compliance Fee – 230 CAD
- Verify your Staus or Replace an Immigration Document – 30 CAD
- Canadian Passport Fee – Fees for a passport picked up in Canada are:
- 5-year passport – 120 CAD
- 10-year passport – 160 CAD
- Child (ages 0-15) – 57 CAD
There might also be other fees involved with the process. You may need the help of a Notary, Translator or Representative like AIS to help you.
