Why should you hire one of our immigration solicitors in London?
The UK immigration system is notoriously complex, particularly now that the immigration rules have changed with the new points-based system coming into effect and free movement ending between the UK and EU. This means that the application process and requirements for many visas have changed. Immigration applications can be stressful, time-consuming and costly and mistakes can be easily made, which can result in applications being refused. This is why, although seeking immigration advice or assistance from an immigration solicitor is not a requirement, it is highly recommended that you do so.
Many people wonder whether the cost of hiring an immigration lawyer is worth it, but having a professional to help you navigate the UK immigration rules can actually save you money, as well as time and stress. With the assistance of an immigration lawyer, your chances of a successful outcome are greatly increased.
Our specialist immigration lawyers in London are some of the top immigration lawyers in the country. Our London immigration team have undergone extensive training in all areas of UK immigration law, including the new immigration system. They also have practical experience with assisting thousands of clients with their immigration issues. This means that they are in the best possible position to help you, and will know exactly how to assist you with your immigration issue. Our solicitors will pursue every route possible to achieve the outcome that you are after.
Bu choosing IAS, you can be assured that you will benefit from a professional and thorough service that will follow your needs and requirements closely, ensuring the whole process runs as smoothly as possible.
What services do our immigration lawyers offer?
Our immigration lawyers have undergone extensive training and have a vast amount of experience when it comes to UK and US immigration matters, this is why they are able to offer a number of specialist immigration services. Just a few of the services that we offer include:
- Professional legal advice
- Immigration application assistance
- Appeal services
- Document and application checking
- Fast-track application services
- Late EUSS applications
- Referrals
Our services can be used to assist with a wide variety of immigration applications including applications from corporate clients for overseas business visas or global talent visas as well as applications from private clients for a range of other applications including judicial reviews, family visas, work visas, citizenship and permanent residence.
We understand that every immigration issue is different and has its own complexities, which is why each of our services are bespoke and tailored to your individual needs. Our specialist immigration solicitors will provide you with tailored immigration advice as part of our bespoke services. No matter which immigration route you choose or what your current immigration status is, our London immigration lawyers will be able to help.
One of our immigration advisors can discuss your case with you during a free consultation before you choose to go ahead with any of the above legal services. After finding out more about your issue, and your desired outcome, they can tell you a bit more about the legal services we offer, which would be the best option for you and how that service can be tailored to your specific needs.

How much does it cost to hire an immigration lawyer?
Because each immigration issue is different, there is no way to predict exactly how much it will cost to hire an immigration lawyer. However, here at IAS, we are committed to ensuring that there are no hidden costs in the services that we provide, which is why we use fixed fees for our advice, application and appeal packages.
Your fixed fee will be calculated based on your type of enquiry. You can receive a quote simply by getting in touch with our team and undergoing a quick consultation, which is free of charge, to find out more about your issue. The quote that you receive will cover all of the services that you will require and will not change once you have received it.
It’s important to note that our quotes vary as they take into account several different factors such as the complexity of your case and the number of resources and services that you will require.
When considering the cost of hiring an immigration lawyer to assist you with your immigration application, you should take into account the application fee. Application fees are expensive, they also change every year and tend to rise. Without the assistance of an immigration specialist, it can be easy to make a mistake with your application or to not submit enough supporting evidence, this means that the chance of having your application refused is much higher.
If you have your application rejected, you won’t get your application fee back and will have to pay it again if you make another application. This is why hiring an immigration lawyer can actually work out as much more cost-effective. The success rate of applications supported by professionals are much higher than those that aren’t, and by hiring someone to assist you with your initial application, you will be less likely to spend further time and money on a new application or an appeal.
It is important to note that if you have a criminal conviction, it will most likely have a negative impact on your application. You may be able to extend your leave instead, which our IAS lawyers can assist you with.

Your caseworkers will also write you a Letter of Representation, which cites legal sources to support your application and greatly increases your chance of success. Once your application has been submitted, your advisor will continue to liaise with the Home Office and will keep you updated on the progress of your application.
Corporate immigration assistance
As well as assisting with personal immigration issues, our team also provides assistance with business immigration matters. Our corporate services are designed to assist businesses with the challenges that come with an increasingly globalised market.

Our corporate services also include assistance for those who wish to start or invest in a business in the UK. There are a number of UK business visas available, including the Start-up, Innovator and Investor Visa, our expert immigration solicitors are knowledgeable about each of these visas, can assess your eligibility and guide you through the application process.
Applying for ILR
Being granted Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) is often a vital step for overseas nationals who wish to make the UK their permanent home. ILR is a form of permanent settlement that allows you to live and work in the UK without being subject to any time restrictions. Having ILR status is also a necessary step in the journey towards British citizenship if you intend to use the route of naturalisation.
The application for ILR can be particularly complex due to the number of strict requirements that you will need to prove that you can meet. To be eligible, you will need to have lived in the UK under a relevant visa or route for a certain period of time. As well as this you must:
- Pass the Life in the UK Test
- Meet the English language requirement
- Not have broken any immigration laws
- Not have spent more than 180 days outside the UK in a 12-month period during your residency
ILR applications are one of the most common types of applications that our London immigration lawyers assist with and we have many team members that specialise in the UK settlement area of immigration law. This means that you can trust us to handle your application with the utmost care and professionalism.
Applying for British citizenship
Many of our clients choose to apply for ILR with the long-term goal of obtaining British citizenship. British citizenship by naturalisation is the most common route to UK citizenship for overseas nationals and having settled status, usually for at least 12 months prior to your application, is one of the main requirements.
There are many benefits to obtaining British citizenship, as well as being free from immigration restrictions you will also be able to apply for a British passport that you can use to travel freely in and out of the UK and you will also have a right to vote in elections, stand for office and access public funds.
However, applying for British citizenship is often very time consuming and can be stressful. You will need to provide many official documents to prove your eligibility and will also need to meet specific requirements, such as demonstrating your good character. Without extensive knowledge of the UK immigration system, this can be difficult. Just like with visa and ILR applications, our Application Package can be tailored to your British citizenship application.
Your caseworker will be with you every step of the way, helping you to gather any necessary documents, explaining the requirements to you and answering any questions that you may have about becoming a British citizen.

What are my immigration options if I want to work in the UK?
Both EU and non-EU citizens must now apply for a visa if they wish to work in the UK. There are several UK visas that allow you to work here, the right one for you depends on the type of work that you will be doing and how long you plan to be here.
The most common work visa is the Skilled Worker Visa, previously known as the Tier 2 visa, to be eligible for the Skilled Worker Visa you must have been offered a job by a UK sponsor company at the appropriate skill level. You will also need to meet other requirements such as demonstrating a knowledge of the English language and meeting the relevant salary requirement.
The Skilled Worker Visa allows migrant workers to work in the UK for up 5 years, can be extended after this and also acts as a route to ILR.
If you would like to apply for the Skilled Worker route or would like more information about the other types of UK work visas available, simply contact our immigration experts today on 020 3944 3274.
