Who can attend the IAA Level 3 Training classes?

The IAA Training Level 3 seminars cover complicated immigration frameworks and processes.

Although no previous qualification is needed to attend these courses, participants should have completed Level 1 and Level 2 assessments before progressing with this last step.

The IAA Level 3 Training course is aimed at those who wish to obtain in-depth knowledge on UK and EU immigration law.

Will I be a regulated Level 3 immigration adviser if I pass the course?

If you complete a training course, pass the competency assessment, and have at least 18 months of full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience providing UK immigration advice, including a minimum of 6 months of Level 3 work experience, you will pass and become an IAA-regulated Level 3 immigration adviser. 

Our training course provides the resources and content required to pass the competency assessment. It helps you prepare, and you receive a Certificate of Attendance.

Training helps you become more competent, but you must obtain IAA approval for your application and pass the Level 3 competence assessment (with a pass mark of 65%) to be eligible to practice at Level 3. You will need to book your assessment when you are ready. We can assist you with booking, but your assessment is not included in the course fees. 

Requirements for accreditation

You must have:

  • 18 months of full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience providing UK immigration advice
  • A minimum of 6 months of Level 3 work experience
  • A completed IAA Level 2 registration
  • A completed IAA application with all the necessary documents and checks
  • A pass score on the Level 3 competence test

What can you help with as an IAA Level 3 adviser?

Level 3 is the highest level of immigration advice in the UK and can include:

  • Letters of pre-action protocol before a Judicial Review
  • Discretionary and complex applications, as well as concessionary policy work
  • Representations in cases of illegal entry, overstaying, removal, and deportation
  • Applications for immigration bail to the First-tier Tribunal
  • Substantive appeals work, such as going to First-tier and Upper Tribunal hearings as a representative

You can only try once per application, but you can reapply after gaining more training or experience.
