Expert Trainers & Advice

Who can attend the IAA Level 2 Training classes?
The immigration procedures and structures introduced in the IAA Level 2 Course follow directly on from the objectives covered in the Level 1 Training.
For this reason, participants should attend an IAA Level 2 class only after completing the Level 1 assessment.

Will I be a regulated immigration adviser if I pass the course?
You can’t pass the training course. The training course is a crucial step in preparing for the competency assessment. You will become a registered and regulated immigration adviser if you pass the competency test and meet all other requirements.
Training helps you improve your job performance and your chances in the exam. You will need IAA approval of your application and a pass score of 65% on the competence assessment to be eligible to work as an IAA Level 2 accredited adviser.
Requirements for accreditation
You must have:
- 12 months of relevant work experience (or part time equivalent) in providing UK immigration advise and services
- A completed IAA Level 1 registration (unless in the Asylum and Protection category)
- A completed IAA application with all the necessary documents and checks
- A pass score on the Level 2 competence test
Who should take this course
- People who are moving from Level 1 to Level 2 authorisation
- Caseworkers taking on more complicated immigration or asylum/protection cases
- Companies must train their employees to meet regulatory standards.
As an IAA Level 2 adviser, what immigration advice can you help with?
Level 2 authorisation may include:
- Filing notices of appeal and statements of additional grounds (but not actual tribunal appeal work)
- Discretionary and complicated applications, such as those that are out of time or fall under concessionary policy
- All requests for Administrative Review
- Representations in cases of illegal entry, overstaying, removal, and deportation, as well as Secretary of State bail

Course outcomes
You’ll become more proficient in case analysis, drafting, and completing the scenario-based assessment (2 hours and 15 minutes, open-book within the exam’s rules). You’ll also learn when to move up to Level 3.
Opportunities after getting accredited
Level 2 can help you move to casework roles with more responsibility, and complexities like refusals and cases with immigration breaches on-record. It is also a common way to get to IAA Level 3.
