Home Office Autumn Statement of Changes
(October 2022) Several changes to UK visas have been introduced in the latest Statement of Changes in Immigration Rules from the Home Office.
The update impacts on several key visas and their eligibility criteria. It had been expected that the government would reveal plans to update the Innovator Visa to address concerns following the removal of the Investor Visa at the start of 2022.
However, it is now likely any updates on this potential route will not be revealed until next year at the earliest.

Ukraine Extension Scheme and Seasonal Worker Visa changes
However, it was confirmed the Ukraine Extension Scheme has been revised with an increased eligibility period. The most recent changes means that those who are granted permission between March 18th 2022 and May 16th 2022 will be able to stay in the UK for 36 months.
A deadline has also been introduced to the scheme, meaning any Ukrainian nationals who wish to apply must do so before November 16th 2023.
There were also changes to the Seasonal Worker visa route to reflect the traditional increase in demand in the run-up to the festive period. UK Immigration Services confirmed several roles will now qualify for the Seasonal/Temporary Worker route including professions within the poultry production sector.
Removal of Visit Visa requirements for some nations
Another change included in the Autumn Statement involved the removal of restrictions for visitors travelling from Columbia, Guyana and Peru.
Following a reduction in potential immigration fraud and criminal activity, travellers from these three countries will no longer have to apply for a visit visa before travelling to the UK and will be assessed on arrival instead.
It is hoped the removal of the pre-visit visa will strengthen tourism and trade with the UK between Columbia, Guyana and Peru.
The next changes to the UK Immigration Rules are expected to be published by the Home Office in Spring 2023.
