USCIS Confirms June 2026 Adjustment of Status Filing Charts
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has confirmed the adjustment of status (AOS) filing charts that applicants must use for June 2026, providing important guidance for both employment-based and family-based green card applicants.
Which Filing Charts Apply in June 2026?
Family-Sponsored Adjustment of Status Filing
- For family-sponsored adjustment of status applications, USCIS has instructed applicants to use the Dates for Filing chart from the U.S. Department of State’s June 2026 Visa Bulletin. This allows eligible applicants with qualifying priority dates to submit their applications even if immigrant visas are not yet immediately available. (AILA)
Employment-based adjustment of status applications
- For employment-based adjustment of status applications, USCIS has confirmed that applicants must use the Final Action Dates chart. This means employment-based applicants can only file Form I-485 if their priority date is current under the Final Action Dates chart for their category and country of chargeability. (AILA)
Impact on Employment-Based Applicants
Employment-based applicants may have fewer opportunities to file for adjustment of status in June 2026, as USCIS continues to use the Final Action Dates chart rather than the Dates for Filing chart.
This means some applicants who are eligible under the Dates for Filing chart may still have to wait until their priority date becomes current under Final Action Dates.
The June 2026 Visa Bulletin also highlights ongoing backlogs in several employment-based categories, especially for applicants from India and China.
While some categories have moved forward slightly, others have experienced delays or moved backward, resulting in longer wait times for certain applicants.
What Applicants Should Do
Applicants planning to file for adjustment of status should carefully review:
- Their immigrant visa category
- Their country of chargeability
- Their priority date
- The USCIS-designated filing chart for June 2026
Using the incorrect chart could result in an ineligible filing and potential delays in the green card process. Immigration lawyers recommend reviewing the June 2026 Visa Bulletin and USCIS filing chart guidance before submitting any application.
