Do You Need an Immigration Lawyer in London?
Whilst it is technically possible to submit a UK immigration application without professional assistance, doing so carries considerable risk. UK immigration law is highly complex, with rules constantly being updated and interpreted strictly by the Home Office.
You should strongly consider instructing an immigration lawyer if any of the following apply to you:
- You are unsure which visa route is right for your circumstances
- You have a previous visa refusal or overstay on your immigration history
- You have a criminal record or pending criminal proceedings
- Your case involves complex family arrangements or dependants
- You are facing deportation, removal, or immigration detention
- You need to meet a strict deadline for an application or appeal
- You have already submitted an application and received a refusal
Even in more straightforward cases, having a professional prepare and check your application significantly reduces the risk of refusal. A refused application results in lost fees, lost time, and potential damage to your future immigration options. Getting it right first time is nearly always more cost-effective in the long run.

How much does it cost to hire an immigration lawyer in London?
Because each immigration issue is different, there is no way to predict exactly how much it will cost to hire an immigration lawyer. However, here at IAS, we are committed to ensuring that there are no hidden costs in the services that we provide, which is why we use fixed fees for our advice, application and appeal packages.
Your fixed fee will be calculated based on your type of enquiry. You can receive a quote simply by getting in touch with our team. The quote you receive will cover all of the services that you will require.
It’s important to note that our quotes vary as they take into account several different factors such as the complexity of your case and the number of resources and services that you will require.
When considering the cost of hiring an immigration lawyer to assist you with your immigration application, you should take into account the application fee. Application fees are expensive, they also change every year and tend to rise. Without the assistance of an immigration specialist, it can be easy to make a mistake with your application or to not submit enough supporting evidence, this means that the chance of having your application refused is much higher.
If you have your application rejected, you won’t get your application fee back and will have to pay it again if you make another application. This is why hiring an immigration lawyer can actually work out as much more cost-effective. The success rate of applications supported by professionals are much higher than those that aren’t, and by hiring someone to assist you with your initial application, you will be less likely to spend further time and money on a new application or an appeal.
It is important to note that if you have a criminal conviction, it will most likely have a negative impact on your application. You may be able to extend your leave instead, which our IAS lawyers can assist you with.
Our Immigration Service Packages
We offer the following service packages through our London branch:
Advice package: During your immigration advice session, one of our caseworkers will discuss your situation with you and find out more about what you would like to achieve. Following this, they will assess your eligibility for any relevant immigration routes and will provide you with comprehensive advice by taking you through each of your options.
Once you have decided which route you would like to go ahead with, they will explain the application process to you and will tell you exactly what you will need for the application.
Application package: For when you need complete peace of mind. One of our caseworkers will be assigned to your case and take care of the entire application process for your visa or immigration route from start to finish, ensuring no room for error. We will also follow up with the Home Office on your behalf and help handle any issues or concerns that may occur after submission.
Document checking service: If you have a completed application ready to go and need extra reassurance before you send it off, our document checking service can help reassure you that your supporting documents are correctly compiled and chosen to best support your case. We can also check over your application to ensure the same.
Appeals package: Have you had a visa refusal or rejection and not sure where to go from here? Our appeals package can give you all the tools and support you need to try submitting a second time and get that acceptance. We can provide full legal representation and advice if you need to take an appeal or administrative review for your immigration application, helping you to identify where things went wrong the first time round and minimising chances of another refusal.
Our immigration lawyers are trained in all areas of immigration law and can provide you with reliable and professional advice.

Of course. Unfortunately, there is never a guarantee that your application will be accepted by the Home Office and it can be very disheartening if it is rejected. However, we can help you to launch an appeal and give your application a second chance.
With our Appeal Package, we will look at the reasons for your refusal, evaluate the options you have for an appeal, help you to prepare a portfolio of documents supporting your case, liaise with the Home Office and will represent you at the full hearing before the tribunal if necessary.
Contact us on 020 3813 5248 for more information about our appeal services.
Both EU and non-EU citizens must now apply for a visa if they wish to work in the UK. There are several UK visas that allow you to work here, the right one for you depends on the type of work that you will be doing and how long you plan to be here.
The most common work visa is the Skilled Worker Visa, previously known as the Tier 2 visa, to be eligible for the Skilled Worker Visa you must have been offered a job by a UK sponsor company at the appropriate skill level. You will also need to meet other requirements such as demonstrating a knowledge of the English language and meeting the relevant salary requirement.
The Skilled Worker Visa allows migrant workers to work in the UK for up 5 years, can be extended after this and also acts as a route to ILR.
If you would like to apply for the Skilled Worker route or would like more information about the other types of UK work visas available, simply contact our immigration experts today on 020 3813 5248.
