Strong Global Talent Visa Demand from Arts Sector
Arts Professionals reports last year saw a 41.5 per cent year-on-year increase in applications for the Global Talent Visa that were endorsed by Arts Council England (ACE).
The ACE is the endorsing body for those applying as leaders or potential leaders in the arts and culture field. Applicants in areas such as dance, literature, music, theatre, and visual arts must have their skills/talent assessed by the ACE as part of their application.
Introduced as a replacement to the Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) Visa in 2020, the Global Talent Visa is a pathway for a range of professionals to live and work in the UK.

Popular Route to Permanent Residence in the UK
The visa is an attractive route for eligible applicants as it offers an accelerated path toward permanent residence. As well as arts and culture, the Global Talent Visa is open to those connected to the science, engineering, medicine and humanities, and digital technology fields.
Home Office figures for the 12 months up to June 2023 show a total of 3,091 applications successfully processed. This is a 76 per cent increase in the number of Global Talent Visas granted compared to the previous year.
The total cost of the Global Talent Visa is £623, which consists of £456 when applying for an endorsement and a further £167 when applying for the visa.
Fast Track Prize-Winning Route Attracts Little Attention
This contrasts with the fast-track route of the Global Talent Visa that was launched to attract international prize-winning experts to the UK. Figures obtained by Research Professional News (RPN) show that only three visas have been approved for this pathway since its launch in May 2021.
A Home Office spokesperson told RPN:
“Due to the exclusivity of the prizes which qualify under the ‘prestigious prize’ pathway of the Global Talent route, we do not expect a high volume of applications in comparison with other immigration routes.”
65% of overall applicants for the Global Talent Visa get assistance with their application. As a complex visa with multiple stages, the majority of applicants choose support in processing their application to avoid errors resulting in rejection and maximise the chances of success.
