New international student immigration routes open early

New routes for Student Visas and Child Student permits will open on 5^th October 2020, as detailed in the immigration rules presented in Parliament on 10^th September 2020.

The new routes will be open for all international pupils who wish to pursue their studies in the United Kingdom. The visas will also be available for European students who wish to travel to the UK at the end of the Brexit transition period.

All students will be treated equally. In addition, with these new regulations, both students and educational institutions will have adequate time to adapt to the new coronavirus rules.

Minister for Future Borders and Immigration Kevin Foster has welcomed the news. He said:

“Launching the Student route early sends a clear message to the world we want the best and brightest to come to the UK to study at our globally renowned education institutions.”

Applicants will require a total of 70 points to be granted leave to enter the UK. This score can be achieved by demonstrating to have an offer from an approved educational institution, and by meeting additional requirements.
