What is the VAF4A Form?
You need to complete Appendix 2 of VAF4A Form if you wish to apply for a Spouse Visa or enter the UK as:
- The spouse or civil partner of someone settled in the UK
- The child of a parent who is applying or have applied already for leave to remain in the UK as a partner of a British settled person
- The fiancé(e) or proposed civil partner of a UK settled person
- The unmarried or same-sex partner of a person settled in the UK
Which information do I need to include in my VAF4A Form?
The VAF4A Form requires applicants to provide information on their relationship with the UK partner, accommodation and financial details. The form must be completed in English, and applicants can use either black or blue ink.
The form, which is 18 pages long, consists of 5 parts:
- Part 1: Your relationship to the sponsor, who is your partner already settled in the UK
- Part 2: Your accommodation details to ensure that it is adequate
- Part 3: Spouse Visa financial requirements
- Part 4: Maintenance criteria for those who are exempt from meeting the financial requirements
- Part 5: Additional information that you believe can be relevant for the Home Office to assess your eligibility
What is the Spouse Visa application process?
You can apply for a Spouse Visa using the VAF4A online form, either from within or outside the UK.
Before you submit your form, you must gather all the documents necessary to demonstrate your eligibility. Besides, you should check the correct application form you should use based on your circumstances. One of our IAS immigration lawyers can help you with that.
Once you submit your VAF4A Form, your Spouse Visa processing time may vary depending on several factors. Usually, it takes around three months for the Home Office to evaluate your case and submit a response. However, it may take up to twelve weeks to process application made outside the UK.
If you wish to receive a quicker answer, you can apply for the Home Office’s priority service.
